Local Sites - Dibbinsdale
Brotherton Park and Dibbinsdale Local Nature Reserve occupies about 475
hectaresis the eastern side
of the Wirral, close to Bromborough. The main attraction of this site, most
of which was designated as an SSSI in 1978, is the presence of the largest
remnant of semi-natural 'ancient' woodland in Merseyside. The three main types
of vegetation are mature woodlands on the steep valley sides, common reed beds
in the flooded valley bottom and the water tolerant 'carr woodland' around the
reed beds comprising willows, alders and dogwoods.

Tourism (0151 647 2366).
